Geographic School Atlas
About the publication - 2016 - 7the edition
This new Geographic School Atlas, now in its 7th edition, was planned and designed to give you the feeling of a virtual tour around the planet – inside and outside of it – highlighting, especially, the details of this part of the world that we love the most and call Brazil. Knowledge development does not have limits and the IBGE is proud to be able to provide, on the pages of this Atlas pages, an unforgettable tour through the natural aspects surrounding us, as it shows how things take place in the physical world and the reasons of our life in society and economy. The Atlas also details the powerful history behind the borders between countries (how, exactly, did the borders appear in those defined points of the map?). That is all a provocative way to raise our interest and longing for more knowledge so we will never want to stop learning.
The IBGE wants to know you better in order to make our dialogue even more constructive and useful. Furthermore, the IBGE just exists because you are there, existing and holding this book. We count the Brazilians, each one of then, without forgetting anyone, and we intend to build trust, yours and everyone’s, in our work of “portraying Brazil”. This Atlas is, in its own content, the expression of our mission of showing Brazil as it is and how Brazilians behave in the current physical and sociopolitical environment.
Have a good tour on the pages of the Atlas. Do not hurry to come back; use your time in your journey here. And if, by chance, you are a young person 60, 70 or 80 years old, you still can have a good trip in this Atlas, which will bring you great personal satisfaction. After all, what is youth but the thirst for knowledge and the willingness to seek knowledge wherever it is?
