Youth Population | 1999

About - 1999

It presents two studies about the social and demographic evolution of the population between 15 and 24 years of age in Brazil , having in mind the social, political and cultural importance of this segment in society.

The first study, based on the analyses of results of the Demographic Census since 1940 and of the Population Count 1996, deals with the evolution of the young population and of its characteristics, such as urban and rural population, sex and color. The second one discusses the position of women in the same age group, based on results of the National Household Sample Survey from 1992 to 1995. The study approaches matters related to the conditions of education, work, fertility and marriage rates, calling attention to the necessity of implementing governmental, community or company policies which can contribute to youth insertion in the labor market, in suitable conditions.

Youth Population presents a significant diagnosis of the social conditions of the youth population in Brazil.
