Material type: Book

Description
The IBGE has a long tradition in developing studies and surveys in the economic field. The long-term surveys, accomplished annually, encompass the basic characteristics of the Brazilian economic activities, whereas the short-term surveys, with either a monthly, quarterly or biannual periodicity, portray, effectively and timely, the evolution of the short-term indicators related to the behavior of these activities.
For the first time ever, this release consolidates, in a single report, the major short-term economic indicators produced by the IBGE. They illustrate the performance of the Brazilian economy in 2024, detailed by Federation Unit whenever available, being some indicators also presented in time series, which allows to follow up the following themes over time: labor and income from labor; production of agricultural activities; production of industrial, trade and services activities; and indexes of prices and costs. To do this, the following short-term surveys were used as sources of information: Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Continuous PNAD); Systematic Survey of Agricultural Production (LSPA); Quarterly Survey of Animal Slaughter; Quarterly Survey of Milk; Production of Hen Eggs (POG); Quarterly Survey of Leather; Monthly Survey of Industry - Physical Production (PIM-PF); Monthly Survey of Trade (PMC); Monthly Survey of Services (PMS); Extended National Consumer Price Index (IPCA); National Consumer Price Index (INPC); National System of Costs Survey and Indexes of Construction (Sinapi); and Producer Price Index (IPP).
These statistics provide an overview of the Brazilian economy today, as well as improve the knowledge, transparency and visibility of the institutional surveys used as information sources, streamlining the access and use of their respective time series, whose results are available on the IBGE System of Automatic Recovery (Sidra) on the IBGE portal.
Available apart, the technical notes about the study bring methodological considerations on those surveys, as well as a glossary with concepts considered key to understand their results.
