In compliance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health concerning the public health emergency due to COVID-19, the IBGE has decided to immediately suspend the price collection made at stores and sales’ places, for the calculation of the following price indexes: IPCA, IPCA-15, IPCA-E, INPC and the civil construction index (price of materials and cost of labor force), SINAPI.
The IBGE goes on studying other ways of carrying out these surveys so that the usual price collection strategy can be replaced.
Each and every option or possibility will be tested beforehand to be validated in order to guarantee the necessary quality and excellence of the IBGE’s technical services, pursuing to preserve the time series.
