On January 15 this year, the updated weighting structures obtained from the Consumer Expenditure Survey - POF 2017-2018 will be released. The weights have the month of December 2019 as a reference for updating, which is the basis for the calculation of the inflation indexes of January.
From the reference month of January 2020, the National System of Consumer Price Indexes - SNIPC will incorporate the new weighting structures based on POF 2017-2018. The overall design of the index system remains unchanged, both in terms of the procedures of data collection, edit and imputation of prices and in terms of the general method of calculation and geographic coverage.
The previous weighting structures, based on the expenditures of January 2018 and released on October 11, 2019, were amended with small adjustments in some geographic areas of the survey, due to considerations of methodological nature, an expected procedure due to the preliminary nature of those weighting structures.
