On September 4, 2026 at 10 am, the IBGE will release, as Experimental Statistics, the Continuous National Household Sample Survey: 2025 Work through digital platforms. The data collected refer to persons employed in the third quarter of 2025 and will allow to outline the sociodemographic profile of the platform-workers, as well as characteristics inherent to their work. This analysis will highlight the differences in relation to the other employed persons, by emphasizing relevant aspects, such as worked hours, earnings, social security coverage and informality, among others. Furthermore, it will be possible to assess the dependency of these workers in relation to the digital platforms concerning several aspects of their work, the influence of these platforms on the establishment of their work hours and specific indicators on every type of platform used, including the platforms of passenger transportation, delivery and other types.
In 2025, the questionnaire of this module improved, incorporating the secondary work, as well as the platforms of e-commerce. Moreover, the survey investigated for the first time the amount of platforms used in the work and the work frequency through these platforms, as well as the main reason for the person to carry out a platform-work.
It should be highlighted that these statistics are classified as experimental and should be interpreted with caution, since they are innovative indicators, still in the test phase and under continuous revision and assessment.
