On September 19, IBGE releases Continuous National Household Sample Survey: 2024 Child (aged 5 to 17) Labor, as Experimental Statistics

The IBGE will release at 10 am on September 19, the Continuous National Household Sample Survey: 2024 Child (aged 5 to 17) Labor - Experimental Statistics. Information on the economic and self-consumption production activities will be resented, as well as household chores and caretaking carried out by children and teenagers aged 5 to 17. The release, still of an experimental nature, focus on the adoption of Resolution IV of the 20th International Conference of Labour Statisticians - ICLS, held in 2018, on child labor statistics, promoted by the International Labour Organization - ILO.

For this population, the contingent found in child labor was measured, as well as their characteristics, such as age, sex, color or race, student status, besides other aspects related to work, as hours worked, income from work and type of occupation. Results are presented of the IBGE coordinated efforts, by means of the Continuous PNAD, classifying the children and the teenagers aged 5 to 17 who carried out tasks found in the List of Worst Forms of Child Labor - TIP List. Thus, besides measuring the population subject to child labor, it was possible to check if the jobs they had were listed among the Worst Forms of Child Labor.

These statistics are classified as experimental and should be used with caution as they are still being tested and under evaluation.
