National System of First Order Leveling

Description

Brazil can be proud of having the longest 1st order leveling network in the world, in the north-south direction. From the city of Santa Vitória do Palmar, in Rio Grande do Sul, up to São Luiz, in Maranhão, a circuit mesh is spread, adding up to more than 70,000 km of leveled lines, all of them under the international specifications of 1st order.

This service has been poorly disseminated. Only the direct users know about this progress, and only few of them know the details of the huge effort to provide Brazil with a network of vertical control to meet its cartographic requirements.

Since 1945 we are eager to continuously contribute in this task, in which we are in charge of clarifying what has been done, how it was done and what is still to be made in this concern.
