About the publication - Geoenvironmental Zoning of Maranhão State

The implementation of this study follows the IBGE work plan in Geosciences and continues the research that resulted in the Subsidies to the Economic-Ecological Zoning of the Itapecuru River Basin – MA.

The study has the purpose of delimiting the spatial units and natural systems of this area. Moreover, it aims to identify and correlate the potentials and limitations of those natural systems.

The results are presented in 1:1,000,000 scale in this document and in the Geoenvironmental Map, in which the natural systems are cartographed.
