April is nationally recognized as a time to celebrate sociocultural diversity and value native peoples. Indigenous Peoples' Day, April 19th, carries a meaning that goes beyond the symbolic sphere. It poses a time/space for consolidating rights, recognizing sociocultural diversity, and strengthening the historical struggles of Indigenous peoples in Brazil.
In this context, the seminar "Indigenous April: Knowledge, Rights and Public Policies" is a strategic opportunity to articulate official information and data, territory, and public policies. It is within this framework that the partnership between UFPA (Federal University of Pará) and the IBGE is established, uniting academic production and the official statistical database of the Brazilian State around a common goal: to improve access to information and strengthen its use in the territories by the Indigenous peoples of the Brazilian Amazônia.
