The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) wil release, on March 25, results of the 5th edition of the national Survey of School Health (PeNSE).
The survey started in 2009, in a partnership with the ministry of Health, with support from the Ministry of Education. It deals with information that provides knowledge about and helps measure risk factors and protection actions related to teenager health.
PeNSE is a sample survey that has as a reference for selection registries of publicsand private schools under Anísio Teixeira National Institute for Educational Studies and Research - INEP.
The survey also provides informatio on the basic characteritics of the population being studied, including socieconomic aspects such as level of scholing of parents, entry to labor amrket and ownership of goods and services; social and family background; risk factors related to eating habits, sedentary lifestyle, smoking, consumption of alcohol and other drugs. sexual and reproductive health; exposition to accidents and violence; hygiene habits; oral health; mental health; and body image perception among other topics.
