The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) is pleased to invite you to the press conference announcing the international schedule of the National Conference of Data Producers and Users (CONFEST/CONFEGE), which will be held this Wednesday, October 15th, at 10:00 am, with online broadcast via Digital IBGE (www.ibge.gov.br).
During the announcement, the main international panels, speakers, and participating countries will be presented, as well as details about the thematic areas of the event, which will address data governance and sovereignty, technological innovation, interoperability, and integration of information sources. The press conference will feature the participation of Marcio Pochmann, president of the IBGE; Andrea Diniz da Silva, head of International Relations at the IBGE; Betina Ferras Barbosa, coordinator of the Human Development Unit (UDH) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); and representing the Secretary of Planning of the Government of Bahia, Ranieri Muricy Barreto, Superintendent of Strategic Planning.

CONFEST/CONFEGE, which will take place in Salvador (BA) from December 3rd to 5th, 2025, will have as its theme "A proposal for a General Plan of Statistical and Geographical Information (PGIEG) for the Development of Brazil in the Digital Age, in the period between 2026 and 2030". The event marks the resumption of the country's main national conference on statistics and geosciences — and, for the first time, it will be held outside of Rio de Janeiro.
