Official Territorial Area
Resolution No. 05, of October 10 of 2002
Whereas the collection, analysis and dissemination of statistics concerning certain territorial areas frequently demand knowledge about the surface areas delimited by the surrounding polygons; and
Whereas the Directorate of Geosciences – DGC – revised and updated the values of the areas of the States and Municipalities, by employing computational processes that allowed the establishment of the coordinates of these territorial surface perimeter points, based on the consolidation of the Municipal Graphic Database – AGM;
Now, therefore, the President of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics – IBGE – resolves to
Art. 1st - Approve the values, in the attached tables, for the territorial areas of the Brazilian States and Municipalities, in compliance with the territorial chart in effect on 01/01/2001.
Art. 2nd - Delegate to the Director of Geosciences the duty of issuing certificates of values of territorial areas.
Art. 3rd - Delegate to the Director of Geosciences in cooperation with the Information Documentation and Dissemination Center – CDDI – the duty of disseminating the new values of the territorial areas.
Art. 4th - The present resolution comes into effect on the present date and may the contrary provisions be abrogated.
