National Household Sample Survey

Complementary Aspects of Youth and Adult Education and of Professional Education - 2007

With the objective of complementing the indicators traditionally surveyed and increasing the availability of information on education required by society, the National Household Sample Survey – PNAD 2007 investigated, as a supplementary topic resulting from a partnership with the Ministry of Education, the characteristics of youth and adult education for residents aged 15 years old and over, and the characteristics of professional education for residents aged 10 years old and over.

Through this publication, IBGE makes available the results of this survey, presenting a more comprehensive profile of the socio-economic situation of the aforementioned population groups, for the country as a whole, its Major Regions and Federative Units under two educational approaches. The survey on complementary aspects of youth and adult education and professional education, aimed at providing access to education to the population who had little or no schooling of elementary, high school or literary levels at the proper age, thus characterizing relevant aspects related to these different courses. The survey on professional education was focused on making a profile of the population in terms of access and conclusion of professional qualification, technical and technological under graduation courses. The analysis of results, illustrated with tables and graphs, highlights the most relevant issues in the survey, mainly in what concerns the complete coverage of some basic school indicators regularly covered by PNAD.

The publication also includes the sapling plan as well as a glossary with the terms and concepts considered essential for the understanding of results. The CD-ROM which comes enclosed with it presents, besides the data in the printed volume, variation coefficients associated to the estimates presented in result tables.

The data now released, together with those regularly obtained by means of the Basic Survey, constitute a valuable source of information on the educational segment in the country.

These data are also available on IBGE's web site.
