National Household Sample Survey

Access to Income Transfers from Social Programs - 2006

The National Household Sample Survey – PNAD 2006 investigated, as a supplementary survey and in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development and Combat to Hunger, complementary aspects to the education of children and teenagers aged 5 to 17 – the focus of a specific publication – as well as the access to income transfers from social programs.

With the present release, IBGE presents the results relative to the latter, comparing profiles of the population benefited and not-benefited by this type of measure. Data for the country are presented by Major Region and Federation Unit. The analysis of results, illustrated by tables and graphs, highlights the most relevant issues of this investigation, the main objective of which was to record the receiving of money by some resident of the surveyed household as a consequence of monetary transfers from governmental programs at municipal, state and federal level.

The publication also includes the survey sampling plan as well as a glossary with the terms and concepts considered relevant to the understanding of results. The CD-ROM which comes enclosed with the publication presents, besides information on the printed volume, variation coefficients associated to the estimated presented in the table of results.

These data are also available on the IBGE web site.
