Complete Life Tables - 2006
In accordance with Article 2, from the Presidential Decree 3266 of November, 29, 1999, IBGE has published, annually, the Complete Life Tables, relative to the previous year, on the first working day of December each year.
Life Table 2006 is an estimate based on the mortality rates calculated for the years 1980, 1991 and 2000, which resulted from a long discussion during a workshop featuring technicians of the Department of Population and Social Indicators (COPIS/DPE/IBGE) and of the Centro Latinoamericano y Caribeño de Demografía (CELADE/CEPAL/Nações Unidas), carried out from March, 24 to 28, 2003, in Santiago, Chile.
The Life Table calculated for year 2000 includes population data from the 2000 Population Census 2000, the infant mortality rate based on information from the same event and the death statistics from the Civil Register relative to the three-year period, 1999 - 2001.
