National Survey of Basic Sanitation

National Survey of Basic Sanitation - 2000

It gathers part of the survey results about the supply and the quality of basic sanitation services in the country, based on data received from city governments and companies contracted to render services of water supply, urban drainage and cleaning and garbage disposal, in the 5 507 municipalities which existed when the survey was conducted.

The 28 tables available on the Internet present data for the country, its Major Regions, Federative Units, metropolitan areas and capitals.

The survey is the result of a partnership with the Special Secretariat of Urban Development Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic – SEDU/PR, the National Health Foundation – FUNASA and Caixa Econômica Federal – CAIXA, and with the technical and financial cooperation of the Pan American Health Organization – OPAS, though its representatives in Brazil. .

The printed publication includes graphs, analytical texts about the coverage of basic sanitation services in the Brazilian regions, a glossary with the concepts and terms considered essential to the understanding of its results, as well as a CD-ROM with municipal and district data.
