Monthly Survey of Mining and Manufacturing Industry - Regional Production
The Monthly Survey of Mining and Manufacturing Industry - Regional Production has produced short-term indicators relative to the behavior of the real product of mineral extraction and manufacturing industries since the decade of 1970.
In April 2004, a new series of monthly indexes of industrial production, based on the revised Monthly Survey of Mining and Manufacturing Physical Production (PIM-PF) began. This revision reached the following objectives: update the sample of activities, products and informants; elaborate a new structure of weighting of indexes based on more recent statistics of industry; apply to the PIM-PF the new classifications of activities and products used by other surveys of industry since 1996; and produce indicators for the Northeast Region and for the Federative Units that in the years from 1998/2000 were responsible for at least 1% of the Industrial Manufacturing Value.
The revised series was started in January 2002. Its implementation did not cause a rupture in the time series because the previous series, which began in January 1991, at regional level, was connected with the new one in the activities in which there was similarity between the two series.
