Municipal Agricultural Production – Cereals, Legumes and Oilseeds

Municipal Agricultural Production – Cereals, Legumes and Oilseeds 2007

Willing to fulfill the demand of traditional users of Municipal Agricultural Production statistics, this publication contains the first results of the survey for a group of products – arboreous and herbaceous cotton, peanuts, rice, oats, rye, barley, beans, sunflower, castor bean, corn, soybeans, sorghum, wheat and triticale – which, due to their different industrial destinations and importance in the diet of Brazilians, are of great social and economic importance.

This publication covers planted area, harvested area, amount produced, average yield obtained and production value of cereals, legumes and oilseeds selected for the country and by Major Regions and Federative Units, with commentaries which highlight the relative participation of each product in the total national production, their spatial distribution through the Brazilian regions, and references to the harvests obtained in the main producing municipalities. The publication also includes technical notes about the survey and a glossary with the concepts considered relevant.

The early release of the results of Municipal Agricultural Production 2006 relative to the crops of cereals, legumes and oilseeds shows the commitment of IBGE with the production of necessary information for the understanding of the reality of the country in its multiple aspects.

These data are also available on the IBGE website. The CD-ROM enclosed with the publication contains, besides the information of the printed volume, the table plan of the publication of the survey by Federative Units, geographic mesoregions, microregions and municipalities; a summary table which includes all the information about the crops ordered by decreasing value of harvested area, and a time series of the data for the period 2003 – 2007.

Methodologiacl information can be found in the publication Pesquisas Agropecuárias (Agricultural Surveys), of the Methodological Report Series.
