Demography of Enterprises 2006
This publication analyzes demographic patterns of the formal segment of Brazilian companies, especially the creation or opening and the extinction or closing of these entities, based on information from IBGE's Central Register of Enterprises – CEMPRE, relative to year 2006, after the study conducted for year 2005.
The study presented herein provides an overall view of enterprises in 2006, encompassing information about their size, number of salaried and employed persons, salaries paid and other compensation and average monthly wage, according to the size defined by the number of employed persons in each company. It presents the indicators of entrance, exit and survival of companies in the market, according to their size and category of activity in the period 2000-2006, comparing them to international statistics from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). The publication also includes specific analyses of companies with salaried persons, with the objective of measuring changes in their entrance, exit and survival in the market, and their impact on the generation of remunerated work positions and wages, not considering the effect of companies without salaried persons in the resulting demographic rates. Entrance and exit rates of local units and their impacts on salaried persons, obtained from data of local units of companies with salaried persons, and indicators of density of creation of local units, also for the period 2000-2006, are presented by Major Region and Federative Unit. Information is presented according to the National Classification of Economic Activities – CNAE 1.0.
The publication also brings methodological procedures used in the elaboration of the study and a glossary with the terms and concepts considered relevant to the understanding of its results. Complementary tables with absolute data for year 2006 are includes as annexes, allowing the users of such data to make other possible analyses. This group of results is available in the CD-ROM which comes enclosed with the publication (also for the period 2000-2006), and on the IBGE website.
