The Central Register of Enterprises - CEMPRE - is an important collection of data about enterprises and other formal organizations and their respective local units in Brazil, gathering general and economic information obtained from the annual surveys of IBGE, in the fields of Industry, Construction, Trade and Services, and from the Annual Relation of Social Information (RAIS), of the Ministry of Labor and Employment.
This publication presents the consolidation of information about enterprises and other active organizations and their respective local units in the reference year 2009, disaggregated according to categories of the National Classification of Economic Activities (CNAE 2.0) and to the geographic levels encompassed by Major Regions, Federation Units and Capital Municipalities. The publication brings information on total employed persons, salaried employed persons, total salaries and other compensations, and average monthly salaries paid, besides indicators relative to indicators of economic and spatial activity and to concentration of total employed persons in Industry, Trade and Services.
The analysis of results presents an overall view overall view of active companies in the country, highlighting information about their legal nature, size and main economic activities. In terms of regional aspects, the publication emphasizes the distribution of local units and their respective economic variables. For the first time, these commentaries include information about salaried employed persons and monthly salaries earned, by sex and level of schooling, disaggregated by company size, economic activity, Major Region and Federation Unit. The generation of these statistics has become possible due to the use of individual worker records at RAIS, statistically treated by IBGE.
The publication also includes technical notes and a glossary with the concepts and terminology used. The CD-ROM which comes enclosed with the publication contains all the information presented in the printed volume, tables referring to more disaggregated levels of CNAE 2.0 and selected tables by Major Region, Federation Units and Brazilian municipalities.
