The II National Meeting of Producers and Users of Social, Economic and Territorial Information is going to be held at the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in Rio de Janeiro, from August 21 - 25, 2006.
The meeting, one of the events scheduled for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of IBGE, consists of an international seminar with renowed Brazilian and foreign lecturers in the fields of statistics and geosciences, the V National Conference of Statistics - CONFEST and the IV National Conference of Geography and Cartography - CONFEGE.

The I National Meeting of Producers and Users of Social, Economic and Territorial Information happened in 1996 its numbers are impressive. There were approximately 500 participants, among lecturers, attendees and visitors. Nine rounds of courses, 35 roundtables, 5 conferences and 67 thematic sessions, in which were discussed a variety of of topics. Social and economic statistics, register surveys, national accounts, statistics of household budgets, territory management, and sustainable development, systems for geographic information, ecological diagnosis and zoning, environmental statistics, among other themes.

The preliminary planning for this II Meeting already includes lectures, roundtables, and free sessions during the five days of the event. An auditorium for 500 persons, a cybercafe and stands for exhibitions are also part of the infrastructure for the event.
