I. Meeting-related information Venue The meeting of Producers and Users of Social, Economical and Territorial Information will be held in our office located at Rua General Canabarro, 706 - Maracanã - Rio de Janeiro - Brazil, August 21-25, 2006. Registration and identification badges The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 21st 2006. Registered participants can obtain the material of the meeting at the Registration Desk, located at the IBGE´s 70 Anniversary exhibition area. Participants should enroll through Registration Form available at this site, to ensure that their names are included in the list of participants. The opening session of the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, August 21st, at the main auditorium. Working languages The meeting will count with simultaneous translation to/from English and Portuguese, in the main auditorium and in the Teixeira de Freitas Auditorium. Internet and email services Computers will be available free of charge to participants during breaks to access the Internet, including their personal email accounts. Food services There will be water and coffee available in selected points of the venue as well as a food court with kiosks selling snacks. Confraternization cocktail It is planned a confraternization cocktail on Monday evening, August 21st , 2006, after the opening session at the IBGE´s premises. Access to the event The organization of the event will offer transfer during the days of the meeting to the IBGE´s premises for those participants who will stay in the hotels listed below. Time-table: 7:30 a.m. (depart to IBGE) and 6:30 p.m. (return to the hotels). II. Travel Visa requirements Participants should check with the Brazilian diplomatic or consular missions in or close to their countries on visa requirements and, where required, obtain appropriate entry visas to Brazil. Hotel Accommodations Hotels should be booked directly by the participants with the company in charge of the organization of the meeting through email gauche@gauche-eventos.com.br with the accommodation form up to August, 17th, 2006. NOTE: In order to get the special rates, hotels will not accept reservations made through travel agencies. It is mandatory to inform the kind of acommodation, the credit card number as well as the expiry date, in order to guarantee the reservation. Arrival / Departure Transfer from the Rio de Janeiro International Airport to the hotels in Copacabana. 1) Special taxi from the airport to Copacabana: R$ 50,00 (around US$ 22.75). 2) Microbus (rate R$ 3,00 - around US$ 1.36) or Special Shuttle (rate R$ 5,50 - around US$ 2.50) that leave each 30 minutes the International Airport to Santos Dumont Airport, where it is possible to take a special taxi to Copacabana (average rate R$ 30,00 - around US$ 13.65). III. Other information Weather The weather in Rio de Janeiro in August is generally mild, with temperatures near 25 degrees Celsius. There is little possibility of rain. The IBGE´s premises is air conditioned to around 20 degrees Celsius. Foreign exchange Participants may bring with them into Brazil foreign currency in cash or travelers' checks, which may be exchanged for Brazilian currency. The Brazilian currency is the Real and the exchange rate in July 2006 is around R$ 2,20 for 1 US dollar *. International credit cards are generally accepted. * Exchange rate of July 21st, 2006 Exchange facilities are normally available at the airport and hotel. Postal services Postal services are available at the hotels. Electrical System in Brazil The standard voltage in Brazil is 110V.
