The II National Meeting of Producers and Users of Social, Economic and Territorial Information will consist of three main events:

• V CONFEST – V National Conference of Statistics;
• IV CONFEGE – IV National Conference of Geography and Cartography;
• SIEG - International Seminar of Production and Dissemination of Statistical and Geographical Information.

In addition to these, other activities will be included in the program as a complement to the main events.

The main idea of CONFEST and CONFEGE is to allow IBGE and the other producers of information in the Brazilian government to provide users with the state of the art of production of statistical and geographical information and also with prospects for expansion. It is also the intention of these programs to make it possible for the institutions to hear about users' experiences in relation to possible weaknesses, gaps and the demand for the production of information. As a consequence of this better contact, it will become easier to promote more articulation, integration and cooperation in the production and dissemination of information in different fields, and to improve the ability to use the information produced.

The II Meeting will not have a deliberative character. Participants will have the opportunity of giving their suggestions, contribution, of criticizing and making requests, but the CONFEST-CONFEGE conferences will not result in formal decisions about the matters treated. The objective of reviewing the General Plan for Statistical and Geographical Information will be reached through the formation of workgroups, whose mission will be to consolidate the information presented during the II Meeting, to reflect upon the topics received, and to prepare their contribution relative to their PGIEG theme.

The International Integrated Seminar of Statistical and Geographical Information - SIEG has as its aim the contact with international trends based on the analysis of specialists from several countries, who are leaders in their respective thematic areas of knowledge. The dissemination of their experience in Brazil will contribute to the improvement of the system of information in the governmental service. It will also be the opportunity to approach transverse themes in the fields of statistical and geoscientific information.

In the main event, the activities will be organized according to the following categories:

• Lectures – delivered by renowned professionals, invited by the Organizing Committee of the event;
• Roundtables – formed, in general, by two or more invited lecturers and one or more discussants;
• Free Sessions– oral or poster presentation of works selected by the Organizing Committee.

Among the side activities are:

• Mini-courses;
• A technology exhibition

In this same week, there are going to be specific activities as part of the Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of IBGE. The content of these activites will be decided during the period of organization of the event.

As an additional tool in order to guarantee ample public participation, a forum was created on the IBGE web site. Whoever is interested in the event can participate by sending ideas, suggestions and contributions to it.
